We wait all year for hunting season to roll around and when it does, in a mad rush we load up the kids, the hunting bags, the guns, (and now the diapers) and are off to the next adventure.
Hunting with kids can be a huge challenge, but it can also be an even greater reward. And when you see them growing up increasing in an interest for the outdoors and for conservation of the natural resources around us, it makes it all worth the the little extras and hassles experienced in the getting there.
We have hunted all our lives, and have found that the experience of being in the field with the smell of fall surrounding us is as addictive as the adrenaline rush of finally finding our prey.
We are a family of six with the kids ranging in age from 18 years to 2 1/2 years. We adjust to the diapers by spreading out a little more - myself and the younger ones sometimes with one of the older ones, taking the roads with the vehicle, and my husband and one of the older boys or sometimes our daughter, taking a trail hike to bugle an elk or grunt in a moose. And sometimes, we drive the roads with all of us in tow. Believe it or not, we have been successful.
We will share some of our hunts and look forward to hearing About yours ..... as a respected and wise friend of our says, "We will plather around the fire" and share the best of the best and the worst of the worst.
Happy hunting and enjoy your family - they will be grown up and gone in the blink of an eye.
The youngest hunters in the family.
